Privacy policy

AirCert has no account and no login, and we never hold a copy of the records you keep in it. Your customers, sites, units and service records stay on your own devices. This page sets out the few things that do leave them, and why.

The app: your records

  • On Android, your records are kept on your phone. If Android backup is switched on, Google includes them in your phone’s encrypted backup to your Google account, as it does for other apps. If you make a backup file in AirCert, it goes wherever you choose to save it, such as Google Drive or your computer.
  • On iPhone and iPad, your records are kept on the device and in your own iCloud account, which is how they reach your other Apple devices. A weekly backup is saved to your iCloud Drive. If you use Teams, the firm’s register is shared through iCloud with the people the owner invites, and with nobody else.

We cannot see any of this. It is between you and Google or Apple, under your account with them.

The app: what leaves your device

  • Data plate scans (iPhone and iPad). The free scan is read on the phone itself and nothing is sent. When you use a scan token for a fuller read, the photo of the plate and the text the phone read from it are sent through our server to OpenAI, which reads the plate and sends the details back. Our server passes it straight through and does not keep it. OpenAI does not use it to train its models, and keeps it for up to 30 days to watch for abuse before deleting it.
  • Filling in an address from where you are. Only when you tap the button to do it, the app asks for your location and sends it to Google (Android) or Apple (iPhone and iPad) to turn it into a street address. The address goes into your record; the location is not kept.
  • Picking a customer from your contacts. Only when you tap the button to do it, and only the contact you pick is copied into the record. The app does not read or upload your contacts.
  • Subscriptions. Google Play or the App Store handles the payment. We never see your card details, and we are not told who you are.
  • Records you send. When you email or share a PDF, it goes from your device through the email or sharing app you choose, to the people you choose.

The app carries no advertising, no analytics and no tracking of any kind, and it never sells or shares your information.

This website: the launch list

If you leave your email address to be told when AirCert reaches the App Store, the site keeps your email address, together with the IP address you signed up from, the page that sent you here, and the date and time. That is our evidence that the sign-up was genuine, and it helps us block automated abuse. It is kept in this website’s own database, used only to tell you when AirCert is available, and never passed to anyone else. Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link, and using it deletes your record rather than just marking it inactive.

This website: visitor numbers

The site counts its visitors with Burst Statistics, which runs on this website’s own server. It sets no cookies. To tell a new visitor from a returning one, it works out an identifier from your browser’s settings (a “fingerprint”) and keeps it in your browser. We see totals, such as how many people read a page and where they came from, not who you are. None of it goes to an outside company.

The typefaces on this site are served by Google Fonts, so your browser fetches them from Google, which sees your IP address as it would on any site using their fonts.

Getting help

If you open a support ticket from our support page, what you send us, including your email address and any screenshot, is kept in our help desk (Zendesk) so we can answer you.

Your rights

Wherever you are, you can ask us what we hold about you, and to correct or delete it. For the launch list and your support tickets, open a ticket on the support page. Your records in the app are yours to change or delete at any time, and deleting the app from your device removes what is kept on it. In California, the CCPA gives you the right to know what is held, to have it deleted, and to opt out of its sale: we do not sell personal information to anyone. In the UK and EU those rights come from the UK GDPR and the GDPR, and you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

AirCert is a tool for working HVAC/R technicians. It is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes to this policy

If this changes, the date at the top changes with it. The first version, on 1 September 2026, covered this website only, before the app was released.
